SELF-ALIGNING, FLANGE-MOUNTED NUT
Requirement:
A printer manufacturer required a Self-Aligning 8M, Flange-Mounted nut
Solution:
- A steel insert was developed incorporating an extended neck, an 8M thread and a flat face for use on assembly to ensure no rotation of the insert took place.
- The insert is mounted into a standard Self-Clinching retainer, which in turn is clinched into the 2-bolt hole mounting flange.
- A finger on the mounting flange locates in the eye of a secondary flange which is clipped to the extended neck of the threaded insert. The resultant assembly allows the thread to align but is restricted from rotating.
