Plain Bearings

Plain bearings, aka journal bearings, are engineered to be one of the simplest and most versatile types of bearing. They provide a stationary sliding surface promoting smooth and easy shaft operation and offer an extremely effective means of radial support:

  • Simplicity – easy to install, no welding required, light-weight, compact design, minimal footprint.

  • Versatility – sizes available in imperial and metric, generous load ranges, multi-faceted configurability.

A plain bearing may be simple, but when our self-clinching and self-aligning features are added, plain bearings become dynamic problem solvers.

Spyraflo’s standard plain bearing materials include Bronze, PTFE Composite Bronze, Acetal, and Acetal -AF. As a designer and manufacturer of specialty bearings, additional plain bearing materials are always an option.

We offer bearings in press-fit, self-clinching, or mounted configurations, with plain or rolling elements, in a variety of materials. Bearings come in standard inch and metric sizes — including miniature options.
